Ups & Downs
Over the next several months there was sickness from the chemo, transfusions because of low blood counts, and some fair days between.
Of the many things God did for us through all this, the time we got to spend with Jayd was a tremendous blessing.
Jayd was given a clean bill of health and, though very tired, enjoyed a trip to Gatlinburg with us. Then at the end of the year he began to hurt again. They left to have their Christmas with Jacee's family on December 29. He kept feeling bad, hurting the whole time. We thought he had overdone it with some projects he worked on. Finally it got so bad he had to go to the hospital. They went to the ER in Fredericksburg and then they decided to take him to San Antonio. They were awful. He was stuck in the hallway behind a curtain because there were no open rooms.
They wouldn't do anything for him there but give him pain medicine. They kept saying his cancer was back. We prayed we could get him back to Vanderbilt. We have had Air-Evac insurance for years and prayed we could use it here. Normally it is only for emergencies, such as accidents, and even then they will only fly you to the nearest hospital. The San Antonio doctors kept saying he has cancer but we know he was healed. God is good and he was Air-Evaced all the way from San Antonio to Vanderbilt. They had to stop somewhere in Louisiana to refuel. Missy went on to Vanderbilt to meet him when he got there on January 12, and Jacee flew in the next day. They confirmed it was leukemia. Bottom line is, Jayd was healed by God of Ewing Sarcoma and now he has Leukemia. Why? We didn't know, but we trust God and we knew he must have something HUGE for them on the other side of this. We were looking for a great miracle like we had not seen before!
By April 2015 they were wanting to do a bone marrow transplant.
The Doctors said it could be 8 months to a year before they found a direct match for Jayd. It is not just a simple matter of matching blood types, there is a list of 10 different things that have to match up perfectly.
In just a few weeks they had found three...3... matches. June 3rd was transplant day. The bone marrow transplant went very well, the following 100 days did not...
